Director of EMBL Heidelberg (Scientific Activities) beta

The Director of EMBL Heidelberg (Scientific Activities) is responsible for oversight and coordination of the different scientific activities on the site.

He works closely with the Heads of Research Units as well as with the Director of Core Facilities and Scientific Services. He prioritizes organizational and budgetary aspect of the scientific activities at the Heidelberg site and takes strategic decisions in close contact with the Director General.

He also has a major role in talent acquisition, including the selection of all scientific group leaders at the Heidelberg site. The Director also plays a strategic role in relation to the EMBL Programme.

He reports to the Director General and works closely with the Chief Operating Officer and others to ensure a collaborative and integrative community on the Heidelberg campus.

EMBL is an inter-governmental organisation with 27 member states, two associate members and two prospect members that is led by the Director General, Prof. Edith Heard, appointed by the EMBL Council.
