Support EMBL

Our supporters

We are grateful to the individual donors, companies and foundations that have supported EMBL in many extraordinary ways.

Our thanks go to those listed below, and to all the others – some of whom have chosen to remain anonymous – who have made invaluable contributions.

Klaus Tschira Stiftung

The EMBL Advanced Training Centre would not have been initiated without Klaus Tschira’s vision for a ‘double helix building’ and a substanial donation from the Klaus Tschira Foundation. This represents an unparalleled contribution to the advanced training of molecular life scientists in Europe and was realised with additional support from the German Federal Ministry of Science and Education (BMBF) and the state of Baden Württemberg.

Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation (BIS)

The  Imaging Centre on EMBL Heidelberg Campus will be a unique service facility for the life sciences and unite cutting-edge equipment, experts and data analysis, open also to visiting scientists from all over the world as well as industry partners.

We thank the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation for making a major donation towards the operation of the new centre with a special focus on training scientists from academic institutions from all over the globe to work with the highly advanced microscopes.

Dieter Schwarz Stiftung

The EMBL | Stanford Life Science Alliance is an inter-institutional research initiative between EMBL and the Stanford School of Medicine, dedicated to promoting science and technology. We are very grateful for the generous financial support of the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, which enables the Alliance to promote inter-institutional collaboration with a joint postdoctoral fellowship programme and a researcher exchange programme. In addition, the funding by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation will help bring together the wider life science community in joint Alliance events to encourage networking and the sharing of new ideas.

Heidelberg Materials AG

We are very grateful to Heidelberg Materials for the generous cost-free provision of building materials for the new Imaging Centre on EMBL’s Heidelberg Campus and thereby supporting the creation of this new unique service facility for scientists from around the world.

Manfred Lautenschläger Stiftung

We thank the Manfred Lautenschläger Foundation for a substantial gift enabling the new EMBL Summer School for Undergraduates  – Talents teach Talents to run for several  years. The Manfred Lautenschläger Foundation had previously supported the Science and Society Programme at EMBL for more than 10 years. We have deepest respect for Manfred Lautenschläger’s outstanding contributions to promoting science and research in the Rhein-Neckar region.
