2nd Industry Day @ EMBL

This event will take place at EMBL Heidelberg and virtually.

Overview

The 2nd Industry Day aims to foster collaboration between EMBL staff and companies in the research field by providing a platform for educational talks, showcasing innovative technologies and products, and career opportunities facilitating networking opportunities. This event will allow companies to present their latest advancements and engage directly with EMBL researchers and staff. This idea was developed in response to numerous requests from the industry, including EMBL CPP members, to organise presentations for EMBL internal staff and increase interactions with various EMBL units.

Exhibition

The exhibition at Industry Day offers an exceptional opportunity to connect with companies in the field of life sciences, strengthen existing partnerships, discover demonstrations of the latest equipment and technologies, and more. The exhibition runs throughout Industry Day, giving exhibitors ample opportunities to engage with participants. Exhibition stands are located in the ATC Foyer, in close proximity to the rooms where industry talks will take place.

Career Panels

As part of the upcoming Industry Day, we are organising two 30-minute career panels, each featuring up to three representatives from participating companies.

Career Options Panel
This 30 minute session will highlight the range of career paths available to scientists in industry. Panelists will share their own career journeys and provide an overview of roles at their company.

Panelist profile: Scientists (ideally with a PhD) currently working in industry. Panelists may be in any function, such as application science, product development, R&D, or marketing.

Format:

  • Brief presentation (max. 5 minutes per panelist) covering their role, career path, and types of roles available at their company
  • Followed by a 15-minute Q&A, moderated by an EMBL career advisor


Application Tips Panel
This 30 minute session focuses on helping participants better understand how to apply for roles. Panelists will outline the application and hiring process at their company and offer practical tips.

Panelist profile: Hiring managers, talent acquisition specialists, or HR professionals with insight into their company’s recruitment process.

Format:

  • Short introduction from each panelist (who they are, what the application process looks like at their company)
  • Majority of the session dedicated to Q&A, moderated by an EMBL career advisor
