We are looking for highly motivated and interdisciplinary imaging specialists to join our service and research teams in light microscopy. Apply until 27 April!

Engineer in Advanced Optical/Light Microscopy for Timo’s LM service team

What should you bring? A PhD in biophysics / physics / engineering or related disciplines (or comparable degrees), and/or experience in complex optical set-ups and mechanical engineering and an interest in biological applications of new optical technologies.

What would you do? You would be responsible for setting-up, testing, running, maintaining and adapting novel and custom advanced light microscopy systems and their control software for specific life science applications and imaging conditions in close collaboration with our microscope developers and optical engineers within the team, but also from EMBL’s research groups and industrial partners, as well as for supporting users jointly with our application specialists in running of advanced light microscopy equipment and development of novel image acquisition schemes and workflows.

Laboratory Officer in Charge for Timo’s LM technology development team

What should you bring? A PhD in PhD in biology / biophysics / physics / physical chemistry or related disciplines, and/or relevant experience in imaging method development and an interest in biological applications of new optical technologies.

What would you do? You would be responsible for overseeing the development of advanced light microscopy systems for specific life science applications and imaging conditions in close collaboration with the team leader. Technologies range from (cryo) super-resolution microscopy to correlative light and electron microscopy approaches as well as novel technologies for sample preparation and labellings, as well as organisation and management of the laboratory and its activities.
