EMBL Course
Expansion microscopy (ExM) physically magnifies specimens, allowing to obtain super-resolution images using a conventional diffraction-limited microscope such as confocal microscopy. This powerful technique is easy to implement but it requires some hands-on training. The gain in resolution can be further enhanced with the use of super-resolution microscopes such as STED. This course centered on the Ultrastructure Expansion Microscopy (U-ExM) based techniques applied to mammalian cells aims at disseminating and discussing expansion microscopy protocols and is intended for cell biologists, parasitologists, etc, with applications ranging from tissue to cells.
“I attended the EMBO Practical Course on Ultrastructure Expansion Microscopy in 2024, and it was fantastic. The course was extremely well-organized, striking a perfect balance between theoretical and practical sessions. The scientific organizers and trainers were top-notch scientists capable of addressing any scientific questions. Additionally, the course organizers were fantastic in supporting participants in all aspects. I highly recommend it!” – Francesco Consolato, San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Italy
“Attending this course was an incredible experience. It allowed me to acquire practical skills in the use of U-ExM and provided me with valuable insights for applying this technique in my institute.” – Celina Terán Ramírez, National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico
