Symposium overview

Women’s health, and particularly maternal health, has long been a neglected area for scientific research despite its importance to the overall health of populations.  There has been a transformational change in the techniques that can now be applied to understanding fundamental mechanisms underlying human pregnancy and its major disorders such as pre-eclampsia.

This new symposium creates a unique opportunity to present and synthesise these new developments and to establish a dialogue between scientists across disciplines and clinicians working in the fields of maternal health and maternal and fetal mortality. By fostering discussions that advance our understanding and inspire innovative ideas and research directions, this meeting will address gaps that remain unexplored by existing conferences.
