EMBO Workshop
This conference will take place at EMBL Heidelberg, with the option to attend virtually.
Registration is not yet open for this event. If you are interested in receiving more information please register your interest.
Recent advances have renewed interest in the role of metabolism during development, highlighting complex interactions between energy flux, metabolite availability, cellular state, and environmental cues in shaping embryogenesis and tissue formation. This growing body of work raises fundamental questions about how flows of energy, matter, and information are integrated across spatial and temporal scales to generate robust developmental outcomes. Addressing these questions requires interdisciplinary approaches that combine developmental biology and molecular metabolism with genetics, epigenetics, physiology, quantitative imaging, and theoretical frameworks from physics and mathematics.
This conference aims to provide a dedicated forum for critical discussion and synthesis across fields. The meeting will emphasize shared conceptual foundations, experimental strategies, and unresolved challenges, fostering dialogue across diverse model systems and methodological approaches.
Through a combination of invited talks, discussion-driven sessions, and a focused introductory bootcamp designed to establish shared conceptual ground, the workshop seeks to strengthen interdisciplinary exchange and enhance scientific discussion amongst the research community at the interface of developmental biology and metabolism.
