Anna Erzberger, EMBL Heidelberg Group Leader, has been selected to be part of the prestigious EMBO Young Investigator Programme. She will be joining an international network of more than 800 life scientists in the early stages of their independent careers.

The EMBO Young Investigator Programme offers a variety of networking opportunities for the selected group leaders and their lab members, including training and mentoring opportunities, as well as a financial award of €15,000. The Young Investigators can also apply for additional grants of up to 10,000 euros per year and gain support for networking activities, such as joint group meetings or travelling to conferences.

Erzberger is part of the newest cohort of 28 young investigators, who will be active members of the EMBO Young Investigator Programme for the next four years. Their research projects address a broad range of questions in the life sciences. The Erzberger Group’s research focuses on the theoretical principles of self-organisation in complex systems, using cellular and multicellular systems as paradigms.

“As a theoretical physics group, being part of the EMBO YIP community will help us build our collaborative network in biology, to bring together theoretical insight with quantitative measurement,” said Erzberger.

“EMBO is delighted to welcome the new young investigators. Their outstanding achievements demonstrate the excellence and ambition that will drive progress in the life sciences. We are pleased to support these young group leaders as they take the next steps in their careers, and we look forward to their discoveries and contributions to our community,” said EMBO Director Fiona Watt.
