#Epigenetics2026
2-Week Virtual LearningLAB
If the human genome is the biological instruction manual for life, epigenetics is the highlighter pen. Rapid advances in this fascinating field are reshaping our understanding of the “Nature vs. Nurture” debate, giving us fresh perspectives on everything from intergenerational inheritance to biological ageing. This autumn, EMBL’s Science Education and Public Engagement (SEPE) team, in partnership with Merck, invites secondary school science teachers and educators to take part in a free, professional development course titled “Epigenetics for Educators” and explore this exiting field of research.
The “Epigenetics for Educators” course seamlessly blends cutting-edge scientific theory with practical classroom inspiration. You will dive into a brand-new pedagogical resource designed to build your students’ understanding of complex topics, like chromatin modifications, DNA methylation, and “epigenetic clocks”, using biological ageing as a relatable, real-world context.
Running from 5 to 18 October 2026, this certification-ready course is delivered virtually. It allows participants to mix self-paced learning on EMBL’s eCampus with interactive Zoom sessions to connect directly with active researchers and a global community of forward-thinking educators. The course is taught in English and requires a manageable workload of roughly 5 hours per week.
Visit the course page for more details and secure your spot by applying before the 20 September 2026 deadline!
