With the opportunity of the official reopening of the Szilárd Library and its inauguration on December 8-16, we organized a special book flea market offering many deaccessioned or donated books.

Thanks to the generous donations and support from the ΕΜΒL staff, we are delighted to announce that we were able to raise a significant amount of 1119.38 Euros which were donated to the Kinder- und Jugendbücherei at Heidelberg University Hospital Center for Child and Adolescent Medicine.

Their library relies completely on donations to operate, and its collection of books has been built up through these contributions. Additionally, all members of the library team are volunteers.

EMBL’s donation enabled them to grow their child book collection further by purchasing 99 new books from a small local bookstore in Heidelberg. That has brought great joy to the young patients of the hospital!

The Kinder- und Jugendbücherei librarians expressed their deep gratitude for the donation by inviting us to visit their small, but well-organized library. We were excited to be given a tour of the library and be presented with their new book titles.

We are very proud that EMBL’s contribution could make a positive impact on the Heidelberg University Hospital Center for Child and Adolescent Medicine community.
