This page serves as a central hub for active collaboration and training opportunities for visiting scientists across EMBL. It highlights short-term project-based opportunities, which may be paid or unpaid, including internships, secondments, and collaborative research placements.
The platform is purely designed to increase visibility and accessibility of opportunities across EMBL’s sites and scientific programmes. Opportunities are organised by educational and career level, enabling candidates to identify options that align with their current stage and interests.

Applications to visible positions/vacancies are accepted on a rolling basis.
1. Review the list of active projects on the website according to your current level of education
2. Submit all requested application documents listed in the project to the email address mentioned.
3. Project hosts will then directly review incoming applications and may contact only candidates of interest. If you should not hear back typically within a month of applying, please assume that your application was unsuccessful.
4. Candidates of interest will typically be invited for an interview with the group/team leader or project supervisor through videoconferencing (Zoom, etc.) or in-person (if locally placed).
5. Successful candidates will be onboarded after agreeing scope of visit and timeframe, and their registration and hiring as a visitor/trainee by the hosting EMBL team on our ERP platform “Workday”.
6. Visa support, if necessary, will be organised through the HR person assigned to your EMBL host.
