Fellowships

Within the MMPU, different fellowship opportunities exist at the PhD-student and postdoctoral (MD and PhD) level. These fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis to highly qualified and motivated applicants.

Becoming a predoc at the MMPU

If you are interested in becoming a predoc in one of the MMPU groups you are invited to visit the individual MMPU Research Groups websites and to get in touch with the MMPU group leader of interest.

Predoctoral applicants state their interest in MMPU research and apply via the EMBL International PhD Programme (EIPP), via the MD/PhD Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Biosciences or via the Hartmut Hoffmann-Berling International Graduate School of Molecular and Cellular Biology (HBIGS).

Becoming a postdoc at the MMPU

If you are interested in becoming a postdoc in one of the MMPU groups you are invited to visit the individual MMPU Research Groups websites to read about their corresponding research topics. Contact details of all Group leaders are available here.
MD applicants are particularly encouraged to apply.

All conditions for applying at the Postdoc Fellowship Programme of the Medical Faculty of Heidelberg or at the EMBL Interdisciplinary Postdocs (EIPOD) can be found via the links.

Starting a new MMPU group

MMPU groups are co-led by two PIs, one from EMBL and one from the Medical Faculties. Pairs of researchers who are interested in starting a new MMPU group should provide a brief joint application that highlights originality, feasibility, importance and expected impact of the proposed research programme. Formally, the eligibility criteria are:

  • at EMBL: group or team leader who can supervise PhD students (rGTL),
  • at the Medical Faculty: professor or independent junior group leader who fulfills the criteria of independent position and funding.

Please contact us—Wolfgang Huber, Carsten Müller-Tidow or Britta Schläger (info(at)mmpu.de) —to discuss, and to obtain the application instructions and template.
