EMBO Workshop
This conference will take place at EMBL Heidelberg, with the option to attend virtually.
Registration is not yet open for this event. If you are interested in receiving more information please register your interest.
This workshop will showcase the latest breakthroughs in fundamental research, boundary-pushing methodologies, and emerging clinical applications, while critically addressing current debates in the field.
The epitranscriptomics field is advancing at an exceptional pace, with rapid methodological, fundamental mechanistic, and translational developments. Breakthroughs in RNA modification mapping technologies, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, direct RNA sequencing, and computational modeling are continuously reshaping our understanding of RNA regulation.
At the same time, new conceptual frameworks are emerging that link RNA modifications to chromatin state, RNA processing, translation control, cellular stress responses, development, aging, and disease. The translational dimension is also expanding quickly, with growing interest in RNA-modifying enzymes as therapeutic targets and in RNA engineering approaches for precision medicine.
Since its first edition in 2016, an extensive body of research has demonstrated that RNA modifications regulate RNA metabolism, shape cellular
function, and contribute to severe human diseases. In parallel RNA modifications have become integral to modern RNA-based therapeutics, where they are routinely used to modulate electrostatic properties, base pairing, stability, and protein expression.
The meeting will bring together leading experts from around the world, providing European researchers with cost-effective access to state-of-the-art science at the forefront of epitranscriptomics research.
“The epitranscriptome EMBL conference rapidly became a must in the field.” — Mattia Pelizzola, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Italy
“The conference provided an excellent opportunity to get the latest insights in the field of epitranscriptomics, presented by the world-leading academic groups.” — Gerhard Müller, Gotham Therapeutics, New York, USA
“This conference was really good for me. I have learnt about new RNA regulatory mechanisms, especially m6A and how it’s an important target for RNA processing.” — Opeyemi Olotu, University of Turku, Finland
