The 2027 EMBO Workshop on computational structural biology will bring together the international community working at the interface of structural biology and computation. After the AlphaFold revolution and the AlphaFold3 generation of all-atom models, the field is moving beyond static prediction toward dynamics, ensembles, biological context, and design.
The programme is built around six sessions: all-atom and integrative modelling of biomolecules and assemblies; nucleic acid structure and nucleic acid-protein interactions; physics-based simulation and dynamics; machine-learned dynamics and conformational ensembles; biomolecular design and drug discovery; and function, evolution, mechanism. The 2027 edition puts emphasis on two whole sessions on dynamics (one classical, one ML), nucleic acids elevated to a standalone session, and a strengthened biology-and applications spine.
The meeting hosts 16 invited speakers and two keynote speakers, abstract-selected short talks, a round-table discussion, poster sessions, a job fair, and dedicated networking. Our goals are to disseminate the latest methods and results, foster interdisciplinary collaboration across the prediction-dynamics-design-biology spectrum, and chart future directions for the field.
