Xt al Concepts GmbH is a technology company founded 2012 in Hamburg, which focuses on the development, production and commercialization of measuring instruments for the characterization of nano- and microparticles in liquids.
Besides the imaging technics such as the VIS- and UV-Imaging, the core know-how is the dynamic light scattering, that allow s mea suring of the particle sizes in liqu id mediums in the submicroscopic range of ~1 – 5000 nm.
These laboratory instruments are traded to research facilities worldwide, most customers are public institutions and pharmaceutical companies.
Among the standard systems, which are manufactured in small series, Xtal Concepts is also developing customized systems for public research facilities like the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) or the European Space Agency (ESA).
As part of many research projects, new technologies are developed based on the light scattering methods.
As a partner in this project, XtalConcepts GmbH intends to cooperate with the EMBL towards training of the Fellows. XtalConcepts GmbH can host up to one Fellows per year in the period 2020-2024 through secondments and introduce them to the ways of working, instrumentation and procedures at XtalConcepts GmbH . Duration of secondments will be between 1 and 6 months and will be arranged in communication with the Fellow. Fellows who will do secondments at XtalConcepts GmbH will come from the field related or complementary to the field of work of XtalConcepts GmbH.
At XtalConcepts GmbH Fellows will have a possibility to learn latest applications in Dynamic Light Scattering and imaging techniques as well as all related technical aspects of the development of those systems, including optics, electronics, mechanics and software development. The Fellows will also have a chance to get acquainted with the operation of DLS and interactive crystallizationsystems. XtalConcepts GmbH will dedicate supervision capacity for each fellow on secondment s. During secondments, Fellows can stay employed by EMBL.
XtalCon cepts GmbH intends also to host mini-secondments in a duration of up to two weeks, during which Fellows will shadow operations at XtalConcepts GmbH.
