Universität  Hamburg is the largest institution for research and education in northern Germany . As one of the country’s largest universities, Universitat Hamburg offers approximately 170 graduate programs within its eight faculties: Faculty of Law, Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences,

Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Psychology and Human Movement Science and Faculty of Business Administration (Ham- burg Business School).                            ·

Universität Hamburg is also home to several museums and collections, such as the Zoological Mu­ seum, the Herbarium Hamburgense, the Geological-Paleontological Museum, the Loki Schmidt Gar­ den, and the Hamburg Observatory.

As a partner in this project, Universität Hamburg intends to cooperate with the EMBL towards training of the Fellows. Universität Hamburg can host up to two (one at a time) Fellows per year in the period 2020-2024 through secondments and introduce them to the ways of working, instrumentation and procedures at Universität Hamburg. Duration of secondments will be between 2 and 6 months and will be arranged in communication with the Fellow. Fellows who will do secondments at Universität Hamburg will come from the field related or complementary to the field of work of Universität Ham­burg.

At Universitat Hamburg Fellows will have a possibility to learn membrane protein expression and purification as well as sample preparation for time-resolved experiments. The Fellows will also have a chance to get acquainted with the operation of various expression systems and lipidic carrier systems. Universität Hamburg will dedicate supervision capacity for each fellow on secondments.
