EMBL Insight Lecture 2024
“Imaging life - How modern microscopes revolutionise biology” by Dr. Robert Prevedel
Formerly known as European Learning Laboratory for the Life Sciences
Our inspiring educational experiences share the scientific discoveries of EMBL with young learners aged 10-19 years and teachers in Europe and beyond. We belong to EMBL’s Science Education and Public Engagement office.
The EMBL Insight Lecture 2010 was the first in a series of annual lectures to be organised by the European Learning Laboratory for the Life Sciences (ELLS). The lecture was entitled “Exploring genome sequences to learn about human diseases”.
Dr. Jan Korbel, group leader at the EMBL, spoke of the advances that have recently been made in DNA sequencing technology and human genome analysis, and the possible implications that these advances could have for disease research – particularly, cancer research – in the future.
• The central dogma of Molecular Biology
• Variations in DNA
• DNA sequencing technology
• Genome maps
• Molecular biology of cancer
• Genome sequencing as cancer diagnostics tool
The EMBL Insight Lecture is available via on-demand-streaming from this website. You can either watch it directly in the window below. Alternatively, you can open the EMBL Insight Lecture here.
Topic area: Genome biology, Methods in molecular biology
