Formerly known as European Learning Laboratory for the Life Sciences
Our inspiring educational experiences share the scientific discoveries of EMBL with young learners aged 10-19 years and teachers in Europe and beyond. We belong to EMBL’s Science Education and Public Engagement office.
Cell biology explores how cells function and interact, and with omics, we can now uncover the molecular details behind these processes.
EMBL’s Science Education and Public Engagement team, in partnership with Merck, invites secondary school science teachers and informal STEM educators to explore this exciting area of biology in a virtual training course this autumn.
The course, titled “Cell Biology and Omics for Educators”, introduces participants to the field of modern cell biology. It provides an insight into how omics and imaging methods are used to study cell structure and function, as well as their impact on current research. Designed to support classroom teaching, the course encourages educators to explore new ways of presenting cell biology to students. The course also aims to enable conversation between EMBL researchers and educators from around the world. Participants will explore theory and practice, focusing on how imaging and omics techniques are changing our understanding of cells.
Application deadline: 21 September 2025.
