Visit us and explore the World of Molecular Biology!

Visit us and explore our exhibition – either on your own or as part of one of our guided tours. School classes (secondary grades) are also welcome to join us on a journey of discovery. Admission and guided tours are free of charge, but prior registration is required. The exhibition is conceptualised for visitors aged 14 and over, but all ages are welcome.

Tours are currently offered in German (upon request in English) and are free of charge.

The exhibition

The World of Molecular Biology offers a fun, exciting and educational experience. Three sections deliver content through a variety of media.

Spirit of EMBL

Meet our scientists and be curious with us!

This section introduces you to EMBL. We briefly revisit the history of our organization and highlight what makes us tick: excellent research, training, and collaboration. But most of all, we want you to meet our people, learn what motivates our researchers and share their enthusiasm about the wonders of the molecular world!

Life is Amazing

Join a journey of scales from tiny to big!

The main section is a vibrant discovery space arranged around a central exhibition structure and set up in front of The Window of Wonder, a gigantic LED screen showing beautiful scientific images. Selected EMBL research examples are woven into a narrative of scale that takes you on a journey from genomes to ecosystems.

Seeing is Understanding

Experience the power of imaging!

Newest imaging technologies shine a light (and electrons) on yet unseen processes that define life in health and disease. We invite you to peek inside the heart of the EMBL Imaging Centre where innovative microscopes capture the most minute protein structures and the most fragile processes within our bodies.

Our donors

Generous contributions from public and private donors in Germany have made it possible to bring The World of Molecular Biology to life. We would like to thank all those whose contributions have been essential to our efforts to inspire and engage:
