The Friends of EMBL programme is an engagement opportunity for all who would like to and are able to support the development and impact of EMBL’s research and activities, and as of 2021 this includes EMBL alumni worldwide. The supporters of this Programme are united in their desire to include EMBL in their giving priorities with an annual donation.

What has it enabled so far?
Since its establishment in 2015, the programme has enabled and contributed to projects of high scientific and social relevance which include:
These projects emerge from scientific developments and opportunities with great potential which are not covered by the EMBL budget, opening doors and offering tremendous value to EMBL, the life sciences community and society at large.
Why support it?
Funds raised collectively by supporters of the Friends of EMBL programme are actively driving innovative projects chosen by the EMBL Director General every year. Those selected represent the areas of greatest scientific and societal opportunity and need, enabling EMBL to go even further and even faster in its aim to make the world a better place.
