Open positions

Currently there are opportunities to join our research group as a postdoctoral researcher, PhD student, or Master student.

Applicants for post-doctoral positions

A 2-year postdoctoral position is available from October 2020 to work on an interdisciplinary research project in collaboration with Dr. Johann Decelle (Grenoble, France). Please apply following this link: https://photosymbiosis.com/job-offer/

For other applications, please contact Yannick Schwab by email and attach your CV, a brief description of your research interests and/or project ideas, as well as the names and contact information of three references. Postdoctoral fellows interested in conducting interdisciplinary research as a joint member in different laboratories are encouraged to get in touch with additional suggestions of project directions.

Research experience in any one of the following areas is highly preferred but not required: electron microscopy, technique development, image analysis. The successful candidate is expected to take a strong lead on their project and engage in close collaboration with biologists, microscopists and in many cases image analysts.

PhD applicants

Please apply through the EMBL International PhD Programme.

Master students

Please have a look at the pages for Visitors and Undergraduates and send your CV and a brief motivation letter to Yannick Schwab directly.

We are an interdisciplinary team working on developing tools to improve correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) techniques and as such an internship in our team lets you experience the interface of biology and state-of-the-art electron microscopy technology.

Our team is particularly looking for masters students who are interested in the processing and analysis of 3D electron microscopy data. Projects such as the application and optimisation of registration tools, or testing and implementation of automated segmentation tools are constantly evolving and provide a great learning opportunity. A solid background for coding in Python and good knowledge base of FIJI is required as well as optional experience with Java programming.

For all questions, please contact Yannick Schwab by email.
