We support scientists at every stage of bioimage analysis based research. Whether you need advice on experimental design after your first microscopy session or expert feedback on complex image analysis workflows, we are happy to talk to you.
Service mission
We support EMBL scientists, visitors, and service users in extracting biophysically meaningful information from microscopy data in a reproducible manner. To this end, we offer consultancy sessions, conduct training workshops, provide access to reusable infrastructure, and engage in community building. This service is built on strong collaborations with EMBL’s microscopy facilities, IT services, and colleagues from the Data Science Centre.
Training
We organise image analysis courses to empower you to independently conduct microscopy analysis based research. Please check the Data Science Centre training website for upcoming courses. Most of our training material is part of a publicly accessible resource for teaching bioimage analysis.
Infrastructure
We provide advice for how to leverage the high-performance computer cluster at EMBL Heidelberg for image analysis, please contact us! In addition, we provide virtual desktops for image analysis with preinstalled software with a graphical user interface.
Community
As a hub for internal image analysis related communication we provide a chat channel.
If you want to reach out beyond EMBL please use the image analysis forum.
In general, we are committed towards strengthening professional bioimage analysis. To do so, we actively participate in the GloBIAS initiative and we regularly run EMBO workshops for bioimage analysts. Realising that a common, powerful and well supported image data format would be a game changer for conducting professional bioimage analysis we are actively supporting the development and use of OME-Zarr. Moreover, together with NFDI4BIOIMAGE we are working on leveraging cloud computing resources such as abcDesktop and Galaxy for providing open and unified access to bioimage analysis tools.
