EMBL’s statement on the invasion of Ukraine

EMBL statement visual

EMBL condemns in the strongest terms the unjustified military invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, with the support of Belarus, and the resulting loss of life and human suffering. We express our deepest sympathy to the Ukrainian people and to all the victims of this war.

As an inter-governmental organisation supported by 28 Member States and hosting more than 93 nationalities, EMBL upholds the principle of open scientific cooperation that transcends borders and unites nations.

Science builds on the peaceful pursuit of the truth and relies on partnerships to deliver ideas, discoveries and solutions for the betterment of our societies. These values will continue to guide EMBL, and we remain committed to helping the scientific communities and the scientists who have been affected by this war.
