lnstitut Pasteur is a private, non-profit foundation. Its mission is to help prevent and treat diseases, mainly those of infectious origin, through research, teaching, and public health initi atives . Set up by Louis Pasteur in 1887, lnstitut Pasteur is today an internationally renowned center for biomedical research with a network of 33 institutes spread over the five continents in 26 countries. In the pursuit of its mission to prevent and fight against diseases in France and throughout the world,

lnstitut Pasteur operates in four main areas: scientific and medical research, public health and health monitoring, teaching, and technology transfer. With 134 research units gathered in 12 Scientific Departments and supported by 20 core technological facilities, lnstitut Pasteur is focused on open, collaborative and innovative research. Since its inception, 10 lnstitut Pasteur scientists have been awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine, including two in 2008 for the 1983 discovery of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that causes AIDS.

As a partner in this project, lnstitut Pasteur intends to cooperate with the EMBL towards training of the Fellows. lnstitut Pasteur can host up to two Fellows per year in the period 2020-2024 through secondments and introduce them to the ways of  working, instrumentation and procedures  at lnstitut Pasteur. Duration of secondments will be between 2 and 6 months and will be arranged in communication with the Fellows . Fellows who will do secondments at lnstitut Pasteur will come from the fields related or complementary to the fields of work of lnstitut Pasteur.

At lnstitut Pasteur Fellows will have a possibility to become familiar with a wide panel of state-of-the art technologies and instruments such as super-resolution microscopy, high-throughput and high-content imaging, image analysis, microfluidics, 3D cell culture and organ-on-chip, molecular-scale characterization of biological macromolecule s. The Fellows will also have a chance to get acquainted with the operation of facilities active in genomics, proteomics, multiscale imaging, cryo-electron microscopy, image analysis, molecular biophysics and structural biology, microfluidics, cytometry, screening. lnstitut Pasteur will dedicate supervision capacity for each fellow on secondments and provide for necessary consumables and access to instrumentations. During secondments, Fellows will stay employed by EMBL.

lnstitut Pasteur intends also to host mini-secondments in a duration of up to two weeks, during which Fellows will shadow operations at lnstitut Pasteur.
