Alumni board meeting

The EMBL Alumni Association board met for their last meeting in their current constellation at EMBL Heidelberg on Lab Day on 10 July.

Agenda items included approval of the fast growing number of members, a review of the new board (which takes office in January 2016), the Lennart Philipson Award selection process, and recent and future alumni initiatives.

One highlight of the meeting was the update by EMBL Director Matthias Hentze on:

• EMBL scientific breakthroughs, including the Tara Oceans odyssey >
• news on EMBL infrastructure, training and integration in Europe >
• the Laboratory’s strategy and plans for the next six years.

“This part alone, makes our visit to EMBL so valuable and inspiring.” said outgoing Chair, Giulio Superti-Furga.
