EMBL Governance

EMBL is an inter-governmental organisation with support from more than 30 countries that is led by the Interim Director General, Ewan Birney, appointed by the EMBL Council.

Directorate

The Directorate has a mandate to enable high-level consultation on strategic EMBL-wide matters. It oversees and guides key initiatives for EMBL and advises and supports the Interim Director General in decision-making on EMBL-wide matters.

EMBL Council

The EMBL Council determines the Laboratory’s policy in scientific, technical and administrative matters, in particular by giving guidelines to the Director General.
