ADHD Awareness month – launching a book collection at the Szilárd Library

ADHD Awareness Month is celebrated throughout October, serving as a platform to educate and advocate about Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. In 2023, EMBL observes the DHD Awareness month for the first time.

During this month, we aim to reduce stigma, increase understanding, and promote early diagnosis and effective management of ADHD. By shedding light on the challenges and strengths associated with ADHD, the Awareness month plays a vital role in fostering a more inclusive and empathetic community, where all individuals, regardless of their neurological differences, can thrive.

Launching ADHD and Neurodiversity-themed book collection

To spread awareness about ADHD within EMBL, EDI Office launches a new library collection at the Szilárd Library. The books sponsored by the EDI Office offer practical coping tools for neurodiverse adults, bust the myths of attention deficit disorders, and provide advice on how best to support different and diverse minds. You can find the full list of books and their summaries on the Library blog.

To launch the book collection, EMBL EDI Officer Anya Osetrova will be available for a Q&A session at the Library. Join us for coffee and cake with any questions about the book collection, ADHD awareness, or EDI Office activities.

When: 26 October 2023, 13.30

Where: Szilárd Library, EMBL Heidelberg,  ATC B29.01.

ADHD inclusion in the workplace

Incorporating ADHD inclusion in the workplace is of paramount importance for fostering a diverse, innovative, and empathetic professional environment. By embracing employees with ADHD, organizations tap into a wealth of unique talents, such as creativity, hyperfocus, and out-of-the-box thinking. Recognizing and accommodating the challenges faced by individuals with ADHD, including attention and impulse control, not only levels the playing field but also promotes a culture of equity and understanding. This inclusivity not only benefits employees with ADHD but also enhances teamwork, problem-solving, and overall productivity, contributing to a more successful and harmonious work environment where the strengths and perspectives of all employees are valued.
