Centre for Ecotoxicological Research (CETI)

Centre for Ecotoxicological Research (CETI) is recognized, in the region and broader, for its expertise and reliability of its analyses and state of the art equipment and machines.

CETI was established by the Government of Montenegro for the following purposes: ecotoxicological testing and quality  testing (physical and chemical analysis and testing of the radionuclide content) of all segments of the environment (water, air, soil, sediment, sea …), control of food safety, dosimetry measurements, quality assutance and control (QA/QC), examination  of  working environment  (comfort-microclimate, chemical  and physical hazards), testing of noise and Vil.ration in the working environment, preparation and drafting of acts on the assessment of professional risks for employees and proposal of measures for their elimination, categorization of waste, the development of toxicological studies, baseline studies, analyses and programs for the needs of state bodies, research institutions, companies and other entities. Since 2012, CETI has a license for scientific research activity.

As a partner in this project, CETI intends to cooperate with the EMBL towards training of the Fellows. CETI can host up to  one Fellows per year in  the period 2020-2024 through secondments and introduce them to the ways of working, instrumentation and procedures at CETI. Duration of secondments will be between 2 and 4 months and will be arranged in communication with the Fellow. Fellows who will do secondments at CETI will come from the field related or complementary to the field of work of CETI.

At CETI Fellows will have a possibility to learn about different methods in analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology and physics of radiation. The Fellows will also have a chance to get acquainted with the operation of labs and machines for: Gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS MS), Gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (GC-MS), Gas chromatography (GC – ECD, FID, FPO), Liquid chromatography – tandem mass spectrometry LC-MSMS, Liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry LC-MS, High performance liquid chromatography(HPLC- UV, RF, DAD, RID), Inductively coupled plasma mass spect rome t er (HPLC / ICPMS), Inductively coupled plasma – optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES,) Atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) –  flame  and graphite furnace, Spectrophotometry and spectroscopy (UV, VIS, FTIR), Mercury analyser, TOC analyser, Flue gas analysers, y – spectro meters, a – spectrometer, Scintillation counter, scintillation probe, a, b – counter, Equipment to measure radon and its progeny, Equipment for the measurement of noise and vibration, microclimate, temperature, humidity and air velocity (anemometer), Automatic monitoring stations for air quality monitoring, Equipment for measuring emissions from stationary sources, Automatic stations for the quality of river and sea water and will dedicate supervision capacity for each fellow on secondments. During secondments, Fellows can stay employed by EMBL.

CETI intends also to host mini-secondments in a duration of up to two weeks, during which Fellow s will shadow operations at CETI.
