EMBL’s Corporate Partnership Programme – a vibrant hub for collaboration that provides vital support for training the next generation of molecular life scientists – celebrates its 15th birthday in 2024. Corporate partners and EMBL scientists gather each year for a day of scientific exchange, and this year’s event will be particularly engaging with the celebration of the two important anniversaries. 27 February 2024. The EMBL Annual Reception is an occasion to share with EMBL’s partners, collaborators and supporters highlights of the year gone by, and the year ahead with stimulating discussions and networking opportunities. This year, we celebrate our 50th anniversary and how EMBL research will continue to help shape the future. (By invitation)

19 April-31 August. Developed as part of EMBL’s 50^th birthday celebrations, Unfold Your World is a science and art project for 14–18-year-olds, open across all EMBL member states until 31 August. The public engagement project encourages young people to reflect on the beauty of protein structures and the important role proteins play in our bodies and nature. With these reflections in mind, participants then create artworks to be submitted online. Information to participate is found here.

4-5 July 2024. EMBL will celebrate its 50th anniversary with an exciting two-day colloquium, ‘From atoms to ecosystems – a new era in life sciences’, held both virtually and in-person in Heidelberg. Current and former EMBL group leaders, as well as former EMBL pre- and postdoctoral fellows will provide presentations on a variety of scientific themes during daytime science sessions primarily intended for scientific staff and alumni. On the evening of 5 July, the event will culminate with a conference closing party open to the whole EMBL community, including administrative and support staff past and present. Registration for the event is free of charge but required whether attending the science sessions or the 5 July party.

25 Oct 2024. EMBL Rome turns 25 and will celebrate with staff and alumni at a scientific symposium that commemorates both EMBL’s 50th and EMBL Rome’s 25th anniversary. The programme features talks by former heads of EMBL Rome and alumni who will share their experiences at EMBL Rome and their scientific path and accomplishments after leaving EMBL. Autumn 2024. Philanthropy has played a significant role in furthering EMBL missions throughout the years. Gifts from individuals, foundations, and companies have helped advance science and nurture the scientists of the future in exemplary ways.  At this event, we will celebrate the generosity of our supporters and the transformative power of giving at a special edition of our biannual benefit gala.
