Fellows’ Complementary Skills

EMBL offers complementary skills courses for EMBL pre- and postdoctoral researchers (fellows) aiming to enhance their non-technical scientific skills.

The courses are specifically designed for fellows, providing content and tips that can be immediately implemented in their research projects and other activities. The course programme is regularly reviewed and adapted based on participant feedback and suggestions from the fellow community.

EMBL Fellows’ Complementary Skills provides these courses at EMBL to complement the outstanding research training that fellows receive in the laboratories and engagements within the EMBL International PhD Programme and Postdoctoral Programmes. Together with the EMBL Fellows’ Career Service, the EMBL Fellows’ Complementary Skills programme is part of EMBL’s extensive skills and career development efforts, providing a well-rounded advanced training programme for EMBL’s pre- and postdoctoral researchers to enhance their scientific profiles and propel their future careers.

To support accessibility and continuous learning for all, selected course materials are also made openly available through the EMBL on-demand training catalogue and our dedicated Career Service website. The materials from our Skills O’Clock session can be found on the Fellows’ Complementary Skills website (internal access only).
