Register now for German Neuroscience Olympiad

EMBL calls secondary school students to register for the 8th German Neuroscience Olympiad until 10th February 2018.

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) calls secondary school students to register for the 8th German Neuroscience Olympiad until 10th February 2018.

Open to German students between 14 and 19 years old, the competition aims to inspire young people to explore the fascinating science of the brain. The Olympiad is organised as a series of competitions at three levels: regional competitions (held in Berlin, Bonn and Frankfurt), a national finals competition and an International Brain Bee competition. The 2018 national competition will take place in May at EMBL Heidelberg – one of the official partners of the competition.

All competition events are held in English and consist of 5 sections: podium rounds, written exam, neuroanatomy and patient diagnosis. The top winners of the regional competitions participate in the national competition. The winner of the national competition has the opportunity to represent Germany at the International Brain Bee competition. The German competition is organised by the Deutsche Neurowissenschaften Olympiade e.V., which also supports the students during the competition and provides study materials to help them prepare for the events.

More information on the competition and how to nominate your students can be found on the German Neuroscience Olympiad website. Enquiries about the competition should be send directly to the organisers.

Deadline for registration is 10th February 2018.

Regional and national neuroscience competitions for secondary school students similar to the German Neuroscience Olympiad are organised in over 50 countries around the world.
