EMBL Grenoble's Library beta

The EMBL Grenoble Library's main responsibility is to use the resources available to the fullest. We aim to give our researchers what they need in the shortest delay.

EMBL, ILL and ESRF staff and scientists invited within the experimental programme of the institutes may use the library 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Journal collection

Library Services


Only EMBL, ILL or ESRF staff whose names are in the phone books of the Institutes are allowed to borrow documents from the Library. The normal loan period is one month. A user may not borrow more than five books at a time. Journals may not be borrowed.

Our journal archive is located in the basement.

Copying facilities

There is a photocopying machine in the central room of the library.


There are three computers with internet access in the library.

Szilárd Library

The Szilárd Library was opened on the 20th November 1979 and is named after the Hungarian-American scientist Leo Szilárd, who in part initiated the idea of EMBL.
