Sheila Obilo

Sheila joined EMBL in December 2025 as an Events Officer to support grant funded projects in the delivery of high-quality scientific events that foster collaboration, learning, and global knowledge exchange.

With a background in communications and event management, her career spans continents, starting in Kenya and ending up in England. Prior to her current role at EMBL, Sheila worked as a Conference and Events Organiser at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.

Passionate about creating sustainable, well-designed events, Sheila enjoys working at the intersection of science, people, and impact. With a Master’s degree in Events Management from Oxford Brookes University, she brings a strong background in logistics management, communications, and stakeholder engagement to her role as Events Officer at EMBL-EBI.
