Biography

Nidhi Tyagi joined the Protein Function Content team at EMBL-EBI in 2015 as a Biocurator. Her focus is on structural annotation for UniProtKB and she works very closely with the PDBe team as part of the SIFTS project. Prior to joining the team, Nidhi was a Postdoctoral fellow in the Thornton group at EMBL-EBI, where her research interests included structure, functions and evolutionary analysis of proteins, particularly in reference to parasitic genomes such as Plasmodium, Leishmania, Helicobacter pylori and viruses. Nidhi's postdoctoral work focused on comparing parasite and allergenic proteins, using computational approaches to establish the evolutionary significance of parasite infection with respect to environmental/food allergies. She also explored the effects of point mutations on structure of proteins implicated in cancer and other genetic diseases. Nidhi obtained her PhD in Bioinformatics from Molecular Biophysics Unit (MBU), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, India.
