Biography

Lizzie joined the EMBL-EBI Training Team in June 2025 as a Scientific Project Officer. Her work primarily focuses on grant-funded projects (BiotRAIn) while also taking part in delivery of onsite courses.



Lizzie holds a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Glasgow, where she recently graduated. Her research was investigating the role of Plasmodium falciparum Nucleoside Transporter 1 in malaria transmission. She also holds a Master's degree in Molecular Biology of Parasites and Disease Vectors from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.



Lizzie is passionate about science education and training the next generation of researchers. Beyond the lab, she has taken part in knowledge transfer activities, from training HIV testing counsellors under the Malawi Ministry of Health to conducting community engagement at Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust. Internationally, she has coordinated The Global Health Network Malaria Hub at the University of Oxford, designing educational webinars and networking initiatives that connect malaria researchers worldwide to enhance scientific knowledge sharing and collaboration.
