Dr Effie Mutasa-Gottgens is Senior Scientific Officer in the Industry Partnerships Team with responsibility for delivering the EMBL-EBI Industry Programme and collaborating on developing strategy, with particular focus on agriculture and food.
Prior to joining EMBL-EBI, Effie worked briefly as Research and SME Liaison Officer on the NIAB Innovation Farm Project in Cambridge. Before that, she spent over 20 years at the lab bench, first as a molecular biologist and then a plant scientist, including 14 years as research group leader at Rothamsted Research Broom’s Barn working on developmental regulation and disease pathology in sugar beet crop plants. From 2012 to 2019, Effie also held a research position as senior lecturer The University of Hertfordshire. Effie holds a PhD in Plant Pathology from what was the Biotechnology Centre, Cranfield Institute of Technology, now Cranfield University, UK
