Sirarat works with the SPOT team to refine and improve the content and structure of the Experimental Factor Ontology (EFO), and to maintain the semantic integrity underpinning integration with other ontologies. The infrastructure of EFO facilitates linking from experimental data to biological and clinical information via axiomatisation. Projects that use EFO include the Expression Atlas, PRIDE, GWAS Catalog, ENCODE, Cell Finder, Ensembl Variation, Fantom Five, Zooma, Open Targets, and the EMBL-EBI RDF Platform. Sirarat received her PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Michigan, with a thesis focus on translational data integration via biomedical ontologies. She completed her postdoctoral training at the US FDA Office of Clinical Pharmacology prior to joining the EMBL in 2014.
