Most of them were alumni from all over the world who had not returned to the campus for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"vf-figure wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"600\" class=\"vf-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/photostory_EMBLRome25_HJ3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71913\" style=\"width:700px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/photostory_EMBLRome25_HJ3.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/photostory_EMBLRome25_HJ3-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/photostory_EMBLRome25_HJ3-768x461.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The first part of the event featured keynote presentations given by: (picture below, from top-left to right) Walter Witke (Group Leader from 1998 to 2009), Nadia Rosenthal (Head of Unit from 2001 to 2012) and Phil Avner (Head of Unit from 2012 to 2020).&nbsp;<br \/>The other speakers were former PhD students, postdocs, and group leaders who talked about their time at EMBL Rome and their careers and accomplishments after leaving EMBL. Participants organised in teams had to pass a series of sequential skill tests. From the \u2018Tip Toss\u2019 to the wet glove test, each performance provided hilarious moments!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"vf-figure wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"600\" class=\"vf-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/photostory_EMBLRome25_HJ5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71919\" style=\"width:700px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/photostory_EMBLRome25_HJ5.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/photostory_EMBLRome25_HJ5-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/photostory_EMBLRome25_HJ5-768x461.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:29px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The evening party saw the long-awaited reunion of Black6, the band composed of current and former EMBL Rome staff, who used to perform at the institute&#8217;s most memorable parties. Music and dancing continued until late evening, and enhanced the special atmosphere of a day that will remain in the fondest memories of all participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"vf-figure
