EMBL switched to a digital-first annual report last year as part of its commitment to more sustainable, cost-effective operations. The digital-first format eliminates the need for at least 210,000 printed pages each year and enables us to reach wider and more diverse audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With highlights from all of EMBL\u2019s key missions \u2013 research, services, training, innovation and translation, and integration of European life sciences \u2013 as well as our people and operations, the annual report is a record of the first year of EMBL\u2019s newest scientific programme, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/programme\/\">Molecules to Ecosystems<\/a>, including the introduction of new research transversal themes and the final pilot expedition for the Traversing European Coastlines (TREC) expedition.
