{"id":37766,"date":"2021-04-26T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-25T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/?p=37766"},"modified":"2024-03-22T11:03:48","modified_gmt":"2024-03-22T10:03:48","slug":"embl-strengthens-collaborations-in-the-french-academic-landscape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/lab-matters\/embl-strengthens-collaborations-in-the-french-academic-landscape\/","title":{"rendered":"EMBL strengthens collaborations in the French academic landscape"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>EMBL recently signed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the prestigious research and academic institution <a href=\"https:\/\/www.college-de-france.fr\/site\/en-college\/index.htm\">Coll\u00e8ge de France<\/a>, established in Paris in 1530, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibens.ens.fr\/?lang=en\">Institute of Biology of the Ecole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure<\/a> (IBENS), the leading research institute in the life sciences within the Ecole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure \u2013 one of the most selective and renowned graduate schools in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MoU was facilitated by EMBL\u2019s strong ongoing collaboration with Coll\u00e8ge de France and IBENS, as well as the common goal of advancing science and disseminating knowledge in several fields for the benefit of society. This agreement expands on a previous MoU that was formalised in 2018 between EMBL and Coll\u00e8ge de France. \u201cThis partnership, strengthened with EMBL and extended to the Ecole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure, will make it possible to develop research capacities in biology at the highest European level between our three institutions, benefiting the careers of our researchers and mutually strengthening our appeal,\u201d says Prof. Thomas R\u00f6mer, administrator of Coll\u00e8ge de France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Edith Heard, Director General of EMBL, says: \u201cOur ongoing synergies and common scientific ambitions led to the signing of this MoU. We are confident that it will contribute to the creation of a strong and multifaceted collaborative ecosystem between EMBL and France.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By signing this MoU, the three institutions aim to develop scientific and academic collaboration in research fields of interest through joint publications, common scientific events, and applications for international collaborative funding. \u201cThis memorandum of understanding is a unique opportunity to strengthen and develop scientific, technical, and human exchanges between our three institutions and to enable the emergence of original and ambitious ideas and projects,&#8221; says Pierre Paoletti, director of IBENS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A core objective of this collaboration is to encourage mobility and training among researchers, especially for young scientists. Several opportunities will be developed in this regard, such as fostering exchanges for fellows at various career levels and organising joint training activities. In addition to fundamental research, this collaboration will focus on challenges affecting science and society using a multidisciplinary approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"vf-divider\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"french\">L&#8217;EMBL renforce ses collaborations dans le paysage universitaire fran\u00e7ais<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un protocole d&#8217;entente a \u00e9t\u00e9 sign\u00e9 entre l&#8217;EMBL, le Coll\u00e8ge de France et l&#8217;Institut de Biologie de l&#8217;Ecole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure (IBENS)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>L&#8217;EMBL a r\u00e9cemment sign\u00e9 un nouveau protocole d&#8217;entente avec le Coll\u00e8ge de France, prestigieuse institution acad\u00e9mique et de recherche \u00e9tablie \u00e0 Paris depuis 1530, et l&#8217;Institut de Biologie de l&#8217;Ecole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure (IBENS), le principal institut de recherche en sciences de la vie au sein de l&#8217;Ecole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure &#8211; l&#8217;une des \u00e9coles les plus s\u00e9lectives et les plus r\u00e9put\u00e9es de France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce protocole d\u2019entente a \u00e9t\u00e9 favoris\u00e9 par la collaboration solide et continue entre le Coll\u00e8ge de France et l&#8217;IBENS, ainsi que par l\u2019objectif commun de faire progresser la science et la diffusion des connaissances dans plusieurs domaines au profit de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tabli dans le prolongement d\u2019un autre protocole d\u2019entente, formalis\u00e9 en 2018 entre l&#8217;EMBL et le Coll\u00e8ge de France. Pr Thomas R\u00f6mer, administrateur du Coll\u00e8ge de France, souligne que \u201cce partenariat renforc\u00e9 avec EMBL et \u00e9largi \u00e0 l\u2019Ecole normale sup\u00e9rieure permettra de d\u00e9velopper les capacit\u00e9s de recherche en biologie au meilleur niveau europ\u00e9en entre nos trois \u00e9tablissements, au b\u00e9n\u00e9fice des parcours de nos chercheurs et d\u2019un renforcement mutuel de notre attractivit\u00e9\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Edith Heard, Directrice g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l&#8217;EMBL, ajoute: &#8220;Les synergies en cours et nos ambitions scientifiques communes ont conduit \u00e0 la signature de ce protocole d\u2019entente.
