PHOTO: EMBL Photolab\/Marietta Schupp<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dinner conversations were sparked by scientific presentations from EMBL scientists, senior and junior: EMBL-EBI Joint Associate Director <a title=\"Ewan Birney\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ebi.ac.uk\/about\/people\/ewan-birney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ewan Birney<\/a> and Senior Scientist <a title=\"Detlev Arendt\" href=\"http:\/\/www.embl.de\/research\/units\/dev_biology\/arendt\/members\/index.php?s_personId=CP-60003456\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detlev Arendt<\/a> presented their latest research, rounded off by a captivating talk by PhD student Yin Cai, selected to represent EMBL\u2019s young, passionate talents.
