The 2176 m\u00b2 rooftop is getting transformed into a combination of a green roof and a photovoltaic plant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The planted green roof will retain rainwater, while the solar panels \u2013 installed in an east\u2013west direction \u2013 will produce a peak power of up to 190 kWp which will be used to help power the site. The installation of the panels will be finished by mid-December 2020, and will provide EMBL with green energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is one of many ongoing projects to decrease EMBL\u2019s impact on the environment and to make the organisation greener.
