EMBL and the Centre d\u2019Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy (CIML)<\/a> have signed a memorandum of understanding that will facilitate collaborations between the two organisations and open up new scientific opportunities. CIML is a joint research unit of Aix-Marseille Universit\u00e9<\/a>, the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS)<\/a>, and the Institut national de la sant\u00e9 et de la recherche m\u00e9dicale (Inserm)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe MoU reinforces the strong ties that were already well established and growing between EMBL and France. It paves the way for new opportunities to collaborate with the French research community\u2019s upcoming programmes,\u201d says Plamena Markova, Joint Head of Government and EU Relations at EMBL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following an initial workshop between CIML and EMBL in November 2017, collaborations have been established in several areas, including immune cell biology and metabolism, and applications in genomics and flow cytometry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marseille has also been a site of EMBL activities, such as a recent alumni event<\/a> and a visit from the Tara<\/em> schooner<\/a>, which was accompanied by talks including both CIML and EMBL speakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU\u2019s formalisation of EMBL and CIML\u2019s relationship offers several specific benefits to both organisations, from joint research projects to use of relevant services and technologies. This new bridge will also improve information exchange, enhance EMBL\u2019s relationships with researchers in France and CIML\u2019s connection with the wider EMBL community, and encourage and support mobility of researchers \u2013 especially young researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Le Laboratoire Europ\u00e9en de Biologie Mol\u00e9culaire<\/a> (EMBL) et le Centre d’Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy<\/a> (CIML), ont sign\u00e9 un m\u00e9morandum d\u2019entente qui facilitera les collaborations entre ces deux organisations et ouvrira de nouvelles opportunit\u00e9s scientifiques. Le CIML est une Unit\u00e9 Mixte de Recherche entre Aix-Marseille Universit\u00e9<\/a>, le Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS)<\/a> et l’Institut National de la Sant\u00e9 et de la Recherche M\u00e9dicale (Inserm)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Le m\u00e9morandum d\u2019entente renforce les liens d\u00e9j\u00e0 bien \u00e9tablis et en pleine expansion entre l’EMBL et la France. Il ouvre la voie \u00e0 de nouvelles possibilit\u00e9s de collaboration avec les prochains programmes de la communaut\u00e9 fran\u00e7aise de recherche”, d\u00e9clare Plamena Markova, co-responsable des relations avec les gouvernements des pays membres et l\u2019Union Europ\u00e9enne \u00e0 l’EMBL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suite \u00e0 une premi\u00e8re rencontre scientifique entre le CIML et l’EMBL en novembre 2017, des collaborations ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tablies dans plusieurs domaines, notamment en biologie et m\u00e9tabolisme des cellules immunitaires, et sur des applications en g\u00e9nomique et cytom\u00e9trie des flux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marseille a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 un site o\u00f9 l’EMBL a organis\u00e9 plusieurs de ses activit\u00e9s, comme <\/a>un \u00e9v\u00e9nement r\u00e9unissant des anciens membres<\/a> <\/a>de l\u2019EMBL<\/a>, ainsi qu\u2019une <\/a>visite de la go\u00e9lette Tara<\/a> qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 accompagn\u00e9e de conf\u00e9rences avec des intervenants du CIML et de l’EMBL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ce m\u00e9morandum d\u2019entente permet de formaliser la relation entre l’EMBL et le CIML, et offre plusieurs avantages sp\u00e9cifiques aux deux organisations, allant de projets de recherche communs \u00e0 l’utilisation de services et technologies sp\u00e9cifiques. Ce nouveau pont am\u00e9liorera \u00e9galement l’\u00e9change d’informations, renforcera les relations de l’EMBL avec les chercheurs en France, ainsi que la connexion du CIML avec la communaut\u00e9 \u00e9largie de l’EMBL.
