{"id":32916,"date":"2020-10-13T10:12:18","date_gmt":"2020-10-13T08:12:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/?p=32916"},"modified":"2024-03-22T10:53:02","modified_gmt":"2024-03-22T09:53:02","slug":"embl-strengthens-collaboration-with-spanish-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/news\/lab-matters\/embl-strengthens-collaboration-with-spanish-research\/","title":{"rendered":"EMBL strengthens collaboration with Spanish research"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On 9 October, EMBL and the Spanish National Research Council (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.csic.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CSIC<\/a>) signed&nbsp;a Memorandum of Understanding that paves the way for stronger collaboration between these two leading research institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the framework of European cooperation in science and research, this new agreement seeks to stimulate mutually beneficial scientific and academic exchange and collaboration in the life sciences, and in particular to ensure greater connectivity, availability of scientific data, use of shared key technology, and circulation of talent.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The existing areas of collaboration and ties between the main public research agency in Spain and Europe\u2019s flagship laboratory for the life sciences are manifold, and are destined to grow and thrive in the future. The memorandum is expected to further expand the EMBL collaborative network in Spain and integrate CSIC research into EMBL\u2019s dynamic scientific ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCSIC\u2019s and EMBL\u2019s cutting-edge research will be boosted by a stronger and more structured cooperation between the two research institutions,\u201d says Professor Edith Heard, EMBL Director General, who attended the signing ceremony in Madrid together with Professor \u00c1ngela Nieto, EMBL Council delegate for Spain and CSIC Research Professor, and Plamena Markova, Head of EMBL International Relations.\u201cThe agreement highlights the growing role EMBL will play<a> <\/a>in collaborating with and supporting the Spanish science ecosystem.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis agreement will enlarge and strengthen the existing collaboration between EMBL and CSIC,\u201d say CSIC President Rosa Men\u00e9ndez and Elena Dom\u00ednguez, CSIC Vice-president for International Relations. \u201cTogether, they have already taken part in 30 projects within the European Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n<hr class=\"vf-divider\"\/>\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"spanish\">El EMBL refuerza su colaboraci\u00f3n con la investigaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola<\/h1>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>El 9 de octubre, el Laboratorio Europeo de Biolog\u00eda Molecular (EMBL) y el Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cient\u00edficas (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.csic.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CSIC<\/a>) han firmado un acuerdo de colaboraci\u00f3n (Memorando de Entendimiento) que allana el camino para una colaboraci\u00f3n m\u00e1s estrecha entre las dos destacadas instituciones cient\u00edficas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el marco de la colaboraci\u00f3n europea en ciencia e investigaci\u00f3n, este nuevo acuerdo busca fomentar un beneficioso intercambio cient\u00edfico y acad\u00e9mico y la colaboraci\u00f3n en ciencias de la vida y, en particular, persigue asegurar una conexi\u00f3n m\u00e1s amplia y una mayor disponibilidad de datos cient\u00edficos, as\u00ed como el uso compartido de tecnolog\u00edas clave y la circulaci\u00f3n de talento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las \u00e1reas de colaboraci\u00f3n y los v\u00ednculos entre el mayor organismo p\u00fablico de investigaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ol y el principal laboratorio europeo en ciencias de la vida son m\u00faltiples y se espera que prosperen a\u00fan m\u00e1s en el futuro. Este acuerdo ampliar\u00e1 la red de colaboraciones cient\u00edficas en Espa\u00f1a e integrar\u00e1 la investigaci\u00f3n del CSIC en el din\u00e1mico ecosistema cient\u00edfico del EMBL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLa investigaci\u00f3n puntera que llevan a cabo el CSIC y EMBL recibir\u00e1 un impulso gracias a una cooperaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s intensa y estructurada entre ambas instituciones\u201d, ha indicado la Profesora Edith Heard, Directora General del EMBL, que ha asistido a la ceremonia de firma en Madrid junto con la Profesora \u00c1ngela Nieto, delegada del Consejo del EMBL para Espa\u00f1a y Profesora de Investigaci\u00f3n del CSIC, y Plamena Markova, Directora de Relaciones Internacionales del EMBL. \u201cEl acuerdo pone de relieve el papel cada vez m\u00e1s importante que juega EMBL y continuar\u00e1 jugando en la colaboraci\u00f3n y en el apoyo al ecosistema cient\u00edfico espa\u00f1ol\u201d, ha agregado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEste acuerdo ampliar\u00e1
