Established by Berlin\u2019s Ernst Schering Foundation in 2012, the 10 000 Euro prize goes to young scientists undertaking outstanding basic research in biology, chemistry or medicine. The prize rewards her interdisciplinary approach, combining molecular biology, biochemistry and synthetic chemistry to study phosphatases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Ewan Birney<\/strong><\/span>, Joint Associate Director of EMBL-EBI, has been elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society.
