EMBL is Europe\u2019s flagship life sciences organisation, and has agreed to become a member of the Instruct-ERIC<\/a> organisation, which links national-level institutions across 13 member states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instruct-ERIC is a pan-European distributed research infrastructure, which operates nine centres to provide high-end technologies and methods in structural biology to academic and industrial users. It aims to promote innovation in biomedical science and operates on a non-economic basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EMBL will offer high-end structural biology techniques through the Instruct-ERIC catalogue at its sites in Grenoble, Hamburg, and Heidelberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EMBL Director General Edith Heard said: \u201cConnecting EMBL\u2019s research, data and research services and training to those of Instruct-ERIC will strengthen both collaborations for the benefit of research, industry and the citizens of Europe. Instruct-ERIC\u2019s specialisation in structural biology will enhance EMBL\u2019s work in the field, and will benefit and strengthen the other components of EMBL\u2019s global activities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephen Cusack, Head of EMBL Grenoble, anticipates new opportunities, \u201cIt’s great that EMBL has finally joined Instruct-ERIC! This will boost co-operation across Europe to develop state-of-the-art infrastructures for the benefit of the structural biology community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
