EMBL has a vacancy for an experienced full-time Digital Engineer to join our Communications team to deliver an ambitious new website, embl.org. As a member of the Digital Team, you will also work closely with IT specialist teams across EMBL to raise the organization’s profile across multiple channels. As our Digital Engineer you will manage the development and integration of our WordPress sites with the EMBL-wide databases such as the ContentHub, and HR systems. You will develop and implement a release strategy for WordPress across EMBL. You will plan, develop, implement and maintain WordPress themes, plugins and templates for EMBL use. You will run a training programme and maintain tutorials specific to WordPress users at EMBL. You will also support the overall development of embl.org with help developing features for interactive event listings and other content. You will use a multitude of digital tools including Eleventy and Drupal, supporting the move away from EMBL’s legacy content management system, Fiona. You will liaise closely with the EMBL-EBI webteam during sprints to improve embl.org. You will train users to be familiar with these new tools as website owners and editors. You will support the Digital Editor with daily web support requests from across the organisation. And you will liaise with content producers within the team, as well as content stakeholders from different departments across EMBL's six sites.
