About this position

A laboratory officer in charge position is available in the group of Dr. Wojciech Galej at EMBL Grenoble, France. We are looking for a motivated individual to join the team investigating the structure and function of large RNA-protein complexes. Our group is interested in various aspects of gene expression, including pre-mRNA splicing, snRNP biogenesis, and related processes. We are using a multidisciplinary approach to tackle complex biochemical problems by combining cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, and other biochemical and biophysical methods.


Your role

  • Ensuring smooth functioning of the laboratory
  • Providing technical assistance to all group members
  • Taking care of the essential laboratory equipment
  • Preparing media, solutions and restocking consumables
  • Ordering consumables and other laboratory supplies
  • Taking care of the communications with external service providers
  • Organising and keeping up-to-date all laboratory protocols and databases
  • Depending on qualifications, conducting own research project


You have

  • A degree from a university or a technical school in biochemistry or molecular biology• Extensive experience in experimental work in a molecular biology laboratory
  • Ability to design, conduct and troubleshoot experiments
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • High motivation and pro-active attitude
  • Ability to communicate in English as a working language.
