What is the \u03bcFabLab?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The \u03bcFabLab is an inter-institutional project, a space for collaboration and development of new micro-to-macro scaled tools located in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB)<\/a>.  The project, promoted by EMBL Barcelona<\/a>, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG)<\/a>, the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF)<\/a> and PRBB<\/a>. The space itself is a \u201cmakerspace\u201d for scientists, open to all employees of the institutes within the PRBB<\/a>. It is not a service, but rather a resource which researchers can use themselves (after being properly trained) to develop their own new devices and technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, Biological and Biomedical research is taking advantage of constant improvements in techniques and technology. Addressing more complex questions often requires scientists to develop new tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to a set of Rapid Prototyping techniques, as well as other fabrication techniques, the \u03bcFabLab empowers scientists at PRBB<\/a> to fabricate custom tools, devices and prototypes to perform their novel experiments.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Training<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Access to the \u03bcFabLab space is only granted to authorised users who have completed the required safety training and in-person orientation walk through. After receiving the general \u03bcFabLab Health & Safety induction, the user will be granted personal access during operating hours. Authorised users can only use the equipment after receiving the corresponding training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New users can book an upcoming general induction slot using the training request form<\/a>. Completion of the \u00b5FabLab General Induction is required in order to book specific equipment training.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n
