All interested should be&nbsp;<strong>curious<\/strong>&nbsp;about fundamental biological questions related to nuclear organisation or cell division, and be fascinated by molecular cell biology, the latest imaging technologies, or computational biology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Topics and collaborations include (but are not limited to):<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Next generation of gentle and high resolution light sheet microscopy approaches; with <strong>Luxendo\/Bruker<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI-based image analysis, various biological topics; with <strong>Anna Kreshuk<\/strong>, EMBL Heidelberg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Super-resolution microscopy, various biological topics, but especially Imaging of nuclear pore structure and assembly; with <strong>Jonas Ries<\/strong>, EMBL Heidelberg<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Imaging of genome structure and function; with <strong>Sinem Saka<\/strong>, EMBL Heidelberg, <strong>Jan-Michael Peters<\/strong>, IMP, and\/or <strong>Daniel Gerlich<\/strong>, IMBA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Modelling chromosome and NPC structure and assembly; with <strong>Ewan Birney<\/strong>, EMBL-EBI, and\/or <strong>Andrej Sali<\/strong>, UCSF, San Francisco, respectively<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cell division in early mammalian development; with <strong>Marta de Ruijter-Villani<\/strong>, Universitet Utrecht<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Postdocs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"has-inline-color has-blue-color\"><strong>Speculative applications<\/strong> <\/span>of researchers from all disciplines with a recently completed PhD or who are about to finish their PhD are welcomed. <em>Please send<\/em> a CV, contacts for references or directly letters of recommendation, and a short outline of your research interests. We are currently looking to host an ARISE fellow to develop and support the next generation of gentle and high resolution light sheet microscopy approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please get in touch with us to discuss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/training\/arise2\/\" class=\"vf-button vf-button--primary vf-button--pill\">ARISE fellowship<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>We are usually also part of <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" class=\"docs-creator\" href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/postdoctoral-programme\/\" data-type=\"URL\" target=\"_blank\">EMBL&#8217;s interdisciplinary fellowship programme<\/a><\/strong> (EIPOD). The last call closed in August 2021, but a new programme is going to be launched in autumn 2022. More information will be available soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.embl.org\/about\/info\/postdoctoral-programme\/\" class=\"vf-button vf-button--primary vf-button--pill\">EMBL fellowship programmes<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Predocs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At EMBL you cannot apply directly to individual labs for a PhD position.&nbsp;<strong>All students have to apply to the EMBL International PhD Programme<\/strong>&nbsp;(EIPP) to be selected. For details about EIPP, please visit the&nbsp;<a class=\"docs-creator\" href=\"http:\/\/www.embl.de\/training\/eipp\/index.html\">EIPP website<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are however specifically interested in us, please let\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:merle.hantsche-grininger@embl.de\" data-type=\"mailto\" data-id=\"mailto:merle.hantsche-grininger@embl.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">us<\/a>\u00a0know anyways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Undergraduates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>MSc or advanced BSc students\u00a0<strong>are always welcome<\/strong>\u00a0to apply for short projects, the\u00a0<strong>minimum<\/strong>\u00a0duration is however\u00a0<strong>6 months<\/strong>\u00a0due to the advanced technologies we employ in our research, which require a significant training period.
